Undercover Shenanigans In Brigg!

We popped into Brigg yesterday, (I love it there, it's a lovely place full of character and great independent shops)and we were greeted by such a cheerful riot of colour and fun!

I am unable to knit or crochet and so seeing such amazing skill blew my socks off!

The high-street had been yarn-bombed and the local businesses were immortalised and celebrated in crochet!

You could see how much joy these creations gave to the passers-by and I often had to queue to take a photo because they were so popular!

Each one made me smile: the intricately detailed Walkers crisp packet, the elegantly manicured hand and the very flexible yoga instructor (who is a friend of mine from The Steel Rooms, a wonderful gallery, workshop centre, cafe and gift shop.)

Someone's photo-bombed the yarn-bomb!

I think that I managed to photograph them all, and if the talented folk who created this happen to read this blog post, then I would like to congratulate you.

Your generosity, humour and crafts-personship are a testament to what can be achieved when folks get together and collaborate.

The identities of the yarn-bombers are obviously unknown, but if you are inspired by this, there is a friendly Face Book group called 'Undercover Yarners' who love sharing ideas about crochet and community.

Wishing you all a colourful weekend chucks X

The Very First Hope & Elvis Exhibition...

Last weekend was the very brilliant Welbeck Winter Weekend (more about that later chucks,) and part of the festivities involved the studios on the Welbeck Estate being open to the public.
And so, for the very first time, Louise curated an exhibition that celebrated the wonderful work that is produced in the workshops that are held at Hope & Elvis.

It was so brilliant to see the vast array of beautiful work, because often they are whisked away at the end of a workshop, or they may need finishing at home afterwards.
It really was a celebration of the creativity and talent that is in abundance in this very magical studio.

The variety and skill on display was simply unbelievable...

It was so lovely to see some pieces from the very talented artists that came to my October collage workshops too...

And here's Poppy standing next to her beautiful piece that she made on my collage workshop in October...
(my heart is bursting with pride!!!!!!)

Strike a pose Louise!

The range of workshops is incredible for 2020...

I love this wall of photos, so many memories...

I think the photo of me with a plastic toy parachute on my head, whilst twirling around in one of Louise Presley's vintage net petticoats, is my favourite photo of all time!

Louise Presley's studio was so beautiful and there was a 'take a bit of material love' box...
Sigh...

Even my favourite ever gnome, who resides outside the studio, was in the festive spirit!

I also just have to show you the work of two of my favourite artists,
firstly, the very wonderful Helen Hallows.
I love her colour palette and her use of mixed media.

Dayle Green's ceramics make me swoon,
I think it's because of the way she paints directly onto the surface of the clay
 and the textures are stunning.

The Welbeck Winter Weekend!

A couple of weeks ago I was so happy to help out at the lovely Hope and Elvis Studio for the Welbeck Winter Weekend.
It's a brilliant event, with an amazing arts and craft market, wonderful food stalls and the open studios.
(I am going to have to apologise in advance, as I didn't take half as many photos as I wanted because I was chatting too much!)
Folks could come along and print with me if they fancied a bit of arty goings-on.
There were lots of other creative activities to try out too, the atmosphere was really chatty and Christmassy.
I'd made a printed garland,(I enjoyed making it so much that I also made them into kits!)

I shared a table with the lovely Nicki from Being Knitterly, whose kits were stunning, (shame I'm useless with the knitting needles!)
There were a few Mrs B bits and bobs for sale too.
It was great to catch up with good friends.
Hello Emma and Pauline!
And, as always, the Hope and Elvis Studio looked truly magical.
There are so many exciting workshops afoot for 2018!
Look at Louise's brooch!
Love!
(Obligatory Hope and Elvis loo selfie!)
And just look at the fabulous creations emerging from the atelier of Louise Presley...
Loving the photos of the two Louises.
Had the most delicious pizza for dinner.
In fact, it was the perfect day!
Thank you to both Louises for inviting me to share a bit of Christmas magic!
