Playground Ponderings...

It doesn't seem like five minutes ago that I dropped her off for her first day of school.
As I got back in the car, bottom lip trembling, I switched on the radio.
I kid you not, this was the very Abba song that was playing:

' In this old familiar room,
Children would play.
Now there's only emptiness,
Nothing to say...'

And now, six years later, I'm standing in the play ground and pretty soon I won't be needed to do the school run any more.
All I know is that in September, when Mini Goth leaves the house in her blazer and tie, I won't be switching the radio on.

Those Scandalous Sisters!

As part of my preparations for the Art Journalling Workshop at Hope and Elvis in November, I have been customising journals in earnest.

I loved the title of this old book and I tried to imagine just what those Swiss twins would have got up to!

So I made up a little ditty about their (mis) adventure!
Tsk! Tsk!
Such shenanigans!

This is the book mark.

Their feet are the bit that I like the best!

Wishing you a happy weekend ( just don't go as wild as though as though naughty sisters though!)

Hooray! Jessie Chorley At Hope and Elvis!

I'd been looking forward to Sunday for a very long time indeed.
It was the Jessie Chorley's 'Scenes and Story Garments' workshop at Hope and Elvis!

I was doubly excited (if that was possible!) because a lot of my stitchy buddies were there too.

I had brought a garment to embellish but then this waistcoat stole my heart...

There were lots of vintage French smocks and dresses on the rails too...

Jessie's work is so inspiring:

It was wonderful to see Jessie working too.

Action shot Di!

Everyone's work was so different, and there was a real sense of calm as we all stitched and chatted away.

Tracey's in the house!
(There was talk of a naughty corner requirement but we were all perfectly behaved!)

Miss Daisy Moon and Miss Debs were also there...

And then it was dinner time.
Magie is such a fab cook, we are always spoilt at Hope and Elvis!

Ive been caught out!

I spent a very happy day working on the pocket of my waistcoat.
It's based on a mouse that we saw in London last Christmas (here are the links here and here.)

I wanted to put a snippet of my journal onto my waistcoat,
I didn't manage to finish it on the day but I certainly had fun!

The obligatory Hope and Elvis selfie!

The prettiest loo in the land!

I've worked a little bit more on my show biz mouse pocket, but theres still a lot more I want to do to my waistcoat.

Thank you Louise, Jessie and Magie for such an inspiring day!

Dib Dab, Dib Dab...

I have been working on some concertina books for the Hope and Elvis workshop in November.

Hope you like this little ditty (it's really pretty bad but it's the best I could do!)

O Mr Flat Fish
What a wonderful life,
With no worries
And no strife.
With both of your eyes on the top of your head
You can gaze at the heavens
All day instead.

Ha! Sorry, couldn't resist!

Can I also say a huge, huge thank you to you folks who booked a place on one of my workshops.
I am very excited indeed, and promise not to inflict any of my rotten poetry on you!
(However, my Mum has promised to inflict lots of her gorgeous cakes on you though!)

Do you mind me mentioning....

Hope you don't think I am being a cheeky so and so, but just to let you know that Mrs B has a bit of a weekender going on in November at the wonderful Hope and Elvis!
On the Saturday we shall be playing with image transfers, collage, free style embroidery and paint.
You can make wooden block pictures, little stitched bits and bobs such as pictures or brooches, whatever takes your fancy really.
On the Sunday we will work in re-purposed journals and/ or concertina books and play with paint, print, stitch and other such fripperies!
No sewing or mixed media experience is necessary, this is a fun workshop for all creative folks.
Oh, and there will be lots of cake and goodies!
There are also lots of other amazing workshops listed too, but be warned, places go quickly in Hope and Elvis Land!
