A Day Out In Sheffield!

I love going vintage shopping in Sheffiled, fancy a mooch around?

( See what I did there?!)

Mooch Vintage is such a friendly store, and it's packed with bargains.

Even Middie enjoyed shopping in here!

Scary selfie....sorry!

Then we pootled down to the very beautiful Collard Manson...

I photographed the rather fabulous street art along the way.

Collard Manson is more like a gallery than a shop, everything is so beautiful and the displays are stunningly curated.

I wanted to buy EVERYTHING!

Sigh...

The weather was glorious, so I settled down with my sketchbook and drew part of the stunning war memorial in the square.

I also sketched some children playing on one of the attractions at the fair.

What with sketching, vintage shopping (bagged a pair of Levi's jeans for £10!) and pizza for dinner, what more could a girl ask for!

Meet Madame Gris At Hope & Elvis!

I'm so excited to let you know that there will be a brand new Mrs B workshop weekender at the wonderful Hope &Elvis on May 5th and 6th 2018!

It will be a whole weekend dedicated to the joys of paper and collage, and will be based on a new body of work that I've been snipping and drawing and sticking for quite a long time now.

Madame Gris will be the star of the show on the Sunday workshop, (alongside Monsieur Le Dandy, but you'll get to meet him another time!)

On this day we will be splashing the paint around preparing patterned and textured papers before collaging a creature of your choice.

I've really enjoyed developing these characters and I can't wait to share them with you!

And don't worry if you don't feel too confident about drawing because I will have sets of templates all ready for you on the day.

I can also help you if you want to make your own animal too, whatever takes your fancy!

On the Saturday workshop you will get to meet some other animal friends of mine and we will be playing with vintage paper and collage.

But I'll tell you more about that day soon!

In Barbara Hepworth's Garden...

Last month, Mini Goth and I visited the beautiful sculpture garden of Barbara Hepworth in St.Ives.

When the streets are just a bit too bustling it's a wonderful place to go, it's always so tranquil and quiet.

I love peeking into her studio, (apologies for the unintentional selfie there!)

I remember when Mini Goth was a toddler and she banged her head on one of the sculptures.

She had the most striking Hepworth- esque bruise on her forehead!

We sat in this beautiful conservatory and sketched very happily for an hour or so...

It was the perfect day...

Summer does seem so long ago now, (I do love Autumn though, don't you!)

A Wonderful Day...

When we were on holiday in Cornwall last month, we visited the Jackson Foundation Gallery in St Just.

I'm a huge fan of Kurt Jackson's work and so I was very excited about visiting this new gallery.

The space is stunning, the sculpture, painting, mixed media and sketchbooks were absolutely beautiful, the staff were really kind and helpful, and they welcomed dogs too, so Middie was very happy!

I was incredibly fortunate to be able to go to a workshop, organised by the Woodland Trust, where we would be able to sketch alongside Kurt Jackson himself!

(He also drove the bus! Please excuse the out-of-focus-extremely-giddy photo!)

We sat in the 'top field' and I just couldn't believe that I was actually there, meeting my art hero!

We all started to draw the Hawthorne tree that has been the focus for many of Kurt Jackson's paintings.

I was so happy that Mini Goth could come along too.

Here's one of the sketches, and some of the hastily scribbled notes that I took.

It was a day I will never forget, and I really look forward to visiting St Just again next year.
