Having A Go...

For a long time now I have tried to work on my product photography.

I never realised just how tricky it is to photograph artwork for putting in an online shop and anything with a reflective or shiny surface is an absolute nightmare!

During the lockdown I've tried to sharpen up my very basic Photoshop skills and had a go at 'mocking up' a photo so that I could show my art prints in a frame, so that it would help to suggest how the prints could look if they were framed up.

My daughter helped me take the photo of me holding the frame and then I had a go!

I know that I have such a lot left to learn but I did have fun!

I managed to add music to it on Instagram, but i'm afraid my skills couldn't manage it for here!

Mrs B Doesn't Do Smoochy Songs!

 

Hello chucks!

Every month I'll keep you up to date with all my shenanigans and I'll pop in a playlist for that month too. (I absolutely LOVE compiling playlists, it reminds me of the many happy hours I used to spend in the '80's making mix tapes for my friends.)

I did have a bit of trouble making the playlist for February though, as I wanted it to have the theme of love for Valentine's Day, but I've never been a fan of the old smoochy song (too many memories of school discos I suppose)!

So I decided that this month's play list should be called 'Mrs B Doesn't Do Smoochy Songs' and they are all those fab, rather sad and a bit mardy love songs that avoid being soppy.

Well, all apart from one...but you'll have to have a look when it pops in your inbox!

Preparations...

 Well, to say that it's been a strange start to the New Year is a bit of an understatement, and, like the majority of us, I have been feeling unsettled and unfocused during the past few weeks.

One thing that I do often turn to when I'm feeling like this is a sketchbook.

A small sketchbook can offer a sense of security, a place that's without pressure or judgement, and I started this little book to help me experiment in preparation for Mrs B's Mixed Media Weekender at the wonderful Hope & Elvis later on in the year.

I really enjoyed using colours that I don't usually choose and my tube of process magenta really brightened up a gloomy January day!

Wishing You All A Very Cosy Christmas...

 

I just wanted to wish you all a very cosy Christmas and to thank you for all your support, lovely comments, encouragement and friendship.

I can feel new plans for 2021 starting to bubble up, but first it's time for a bit of a break.

(I have already watched waaaaay to many of those soppy romantic Christmas films...or have I?!?!)

Babooshka was so tall and strong she could reach up and borrow a star or two to help her cast her healing spells.

To thank the stars for their help, she would warm them by the fire until they were glowing brightly again.

She would then pull on her woollen mittens and gently put the glowing stars back into the night sky.

 

Indie Roller Extravaganza!

Tomorrow (21/11/20)is the Indie Roller Extravaganza online Christmas market and Im very giddy indeed!

Hundreds of independent creative businesses will be taking part and it will be the prefect opportunity to find Christmas presents for friends, family (and yourself!)

All you have to do is follow the #IndieRollerExtravaganza hashtag on Instagram and you will see all the businesses taking part.                        

Everyone will have a stall displaying their wares that they have set up at home, you will also see lots of live films and other exciting happenings going on all day.

Then all you have to do is simply have a look on the maker's online shop if you would like to look at their work or make a purchase.

I really enjoyed setting up my stall (even though the rest of my house is now a proper state!)

Although I did get just a little bit over-excited with the fairy lights!

(I even had to have a look at it in the dark! Ha! Ha!)
