I just thought I'd share this mixed media painting with you.
I had this blog post planned in my head, but this morning it doesn't seem fitting at all.
It feels wrong to talk about the beautiful summer's day after hearing about the London terror attack.
This is difficult to explain but is it wrong to try and remember that the world is beautiful, or is blogging about how much joy painting and nature gives to me just disrespectful?
I feel saddened to my very core, and times like these make you reassess everything.
Sending out a big hug to everyone.

Agreed. Have held off posting pictures of things I make as it feels trivial and disrespectful to all those suffering. But after a pause for thought, life must go on - or those who seek to destroy it will have won.
ReplyDeleteI spent yesterday afternoon at a meeting where Jeremy Corbyn spoke about his vision for Britain. The room was humming with hope... so many people keen to see someone they hope can provide a kinder, more caring future to aspire to. I felt very emotional. I really want to hang on to that feeling, but it is very difficult with all of the horrors facing the world at the moment.
Thank you my friend, the comments I've received really help. It is times like these that we need our communities, and that includes our online communities, to help us stay strong and support each other xxx
DeleteAgree with you ...
ReplyDeleteHard times for the ones involved, so sad
Big hugs to you xxx
DeleteThere's nothing wrong in pointing out that the world has its beauties and sharing your joy of painting and nature. In fact, at times like these it's more important to do so. Remember the people who have been killed and injured, along with their families etc and anybody caught up in what happened last night, but showing our love of beauty in the world and sharing what we do that makes us happy, actually puts two fingers up to the people who hate because of a deranged idea of a religious faith that is nothing like that.
ReplyDeleteIt's the joy and beauty of the world that we do need to keep celebrating. Thank you chuck xxx
DeleteBig hugs for you too. Love is the best we can do to balance all that horror and hatred. Xxx

DeleteI have thought about your questions all day, and haven't come up with an answer - just some thoughts. There's such misery to be found everywhere, from our own neighbourhood to the whole of the world. It's when it touches us directly, in our family, our city, our country that it's extra hard to bear, especially when it seems random and affects innocent people. But it can't be wrong to rejoice in beauty and to share it with others. So I don't know the answer/s. A local journalist wrote this recently and I think she's right. "You can only live in the present, deal with whatever blow may come, revel in what joy there is, and get up next morning and do it all again." Thank you for sharing your misty morning birds, they have brought me joy as I contemplate sadness. (Sorry, long post!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your thoughts Judith and for sharing that fabulous quote.
DeleteThat's what we all have to do isn't it, try to help each other and find the beauty.
I really appreciate your wise words xxx
