A Spooky Day Out!

It's that time of year again, Mini Goth's favourite day of the year...
Whitby Goth Weekend!
I love Whitby and there is a lovely atmosphere during this Halloween weekend.
Everyone is so friendly, even if they're a vampire or werewolf!
It is compulsory to stop at Sherlock's for a cup of tea and toasted tea cake!
It makes me so proud to see her being photographed.
Middie likes to join in too!
The costumes were amazing!
We had to pop into Fortunes for kippers...
The view was glorious, if a little breezy, as we walked up to the Abbey.
I spotted this poor chap as we walked back into town!
Awwww... Only joking Middie!
(Obligatory giant plastic ice cream shot!)
Time to go home... X

The Tale Of The Blackbird's Daughter...

Next month I'll be holding a little online exhibition.
Some of the paintings have their own stories, here's one about the blackbird's daughter...
The Tale Of The Blackbird's Daughter.
There was once a kind and hard-working carpenter and his wife who lived in the middle of a forest.
Although they were very happy, they longed for a child.
One morning, while feeding the birds by the back door, the carpenter's wife wished for a daughter.
The very next day, a beautiful blue speckled egg dropped down the chimney.
To their astonishment there was a tiny baby inside the broken shell.
As the years passed by, the baby grew into a beautiful young lady.
Every evening, as the sun went down and the forest grew quiet, she would sing the most beautiful song.
And if you saw her in a certain light, you could just see from the corner of your eye, the slightest glimpse of her shadow wings.

The Selvedge Fair At Pendle...(Pinch me, am I dreaming!?!)

A couple of weeks ago I took part in the Selvedge Fair at the beautiful Pendle Heritage Centre.
I was very nervous indeed and couldn't actually believe that I had my stall there!
I had a mixture of paintings, prints, cards, embroidery and mixed media for sale.
You might recognise some of these characters from previous blog posts!
It was amazing to meet so many internet friends and folk who read this blog.
(Thank you so much for coming to chat if you're reading this!)
It was really busy, full of very happy textile-lovers.
I just had to photograph these amazing boots!
All the artists and stall holders were lovely, here's the beautiful work by Dear Emma...
And I love the aprons by The Stitch Society...
And just look at the magical world created by Karen Shapley...
Lilac Pearl's customised garments were so delicate and beautiful...
And there were so many treasures to tempt you at Magpie Maison...
Corinne Young's textile art was stunning, just look at all the detail!
I was also thrilled to meet Priscilla Edwards, as I've been a fan of her work for a long time.
It was a brilliant day, full of kindred spirits and creativity.
I'd like to say a huge thanks to Corinne, Fiona and Selvedge Magazine for organising such an amazing event, and for inviting me along.
