Trying Something New...

At the moment I've become a bit obsessed with vintage papers.
I think it's the handwriting, (and I think it's because my handwriting is so dreadful!)
I've really enjoyed playing with mixed media and collage.
On some areas there are many layers.
Hope you like!

  1. Love this evolution of your art. I am generally in disfavor of destruction of antique ephemera, especially photos. But you can do no wrong and I give you a full pass to carry on. It is marvelous. (Don't you feel fortunate to have my blessing ; )

    1. Thank you Kathleen, I always think very carefully before using any vintage paper and photos.
Such items from the past should always be treated with respect, thank you for your sweet comment my friend xxx

    2. Feeling like a jerk for even making that comment. It's just a pet peeve because I see terrible jewelry and assemblages made locally for sale using these things. And I have a nagging anxiety about what to do with my family photos when I'm gone. But your work is elevated and on par with my favorite artist Joseph Cornell and I am completely in support of you using those materials. And there I go again...

    3. Please don't even feel like that for a second. It really is something that's important to consider in mixed media art, my Mum always instilled I to me that 'books are your friend' so I can't destroy anything that is useable. I love having these discussions, we have such a fab community here that I truly love.
And thank you for your wonderful support Kathleen, Cornell is one of my all time heroes xxx

  5. What a hansom vintage hare. Knowing many bloggers who do collage & having dabbled myself, I look at it as being loved again. So many vintage books go into recycling at the shop - we get them valued first to keep the rare ones for sale but sadly many go into recycling.

  6. I do like . I love him actually, and I do love the use of old papers and handwriting in work. I have collected discarded shopping lists for years...I know!!...and I think they are fascinating. I have noticed they are beginning to dwindle where I suppose people put lists on their phones.xx
