Indoors...

Yesterday I had a wobbly moment.

I have managed to avoid thinking about things too much recently by keeping busy, but I guess it's only natural that this strategy can only work for so long.
What really helped me was to look around my home and think about all the things that I am grateful for.
I haven't got any expensive furniture or belongings, but everything here is connected to a person or a memory and so to me they are priceless.
It helped to walk around with my camera, looking at the things I walk past everyday with fresh eyes.

If you're feeling the same, perhaps doing this might help you too.

This sausage dog is one of my favourite car boot finds (50p!)

I never realised how many old toys lived in my house, I think I'm a tad sentimental!

I'm not sure what these yellow flowers are called, but I love them, and they were from the remains of a bouquet a friend sent to me.
The vase and little pinch pot were also made by my friends.

The light is made from cable ties and I bought it many moons ago from Habitat and I found the Tretchikoff picture in a charity shop for £5!
I remember that my poor Dad had to carry it around all day and he was so embarrassed!

I think that books and plants make a happy home (well, they do for me!)

I loves my little orange record player I do!

I had collected LPs (especially ones from the '80's) from charity shops and car boots for many years before I even bought the record player!

These toys were given to me from a friend, they understand my taste in treasures!

(It's okay because I had a word with Miss Dolly, and said that I didn't mind if she came to life at night as long as she didn't stomp around or leave the milk out of the fridge!!!!!!!!!!)

Sending you all my very best wishes and love.

A Few Of My Favourite Things...

When Spring is in the air it's time to tidy, clean and dust!
And as I was flicking my duster around I thought I'd photograph some of my favourite treasures while the sun was shining!

I think that this little lass must have come off a cuckoo clock but she seems quite happy perched on the edge of my shelf.

(Can't resist a pair of children's shoes!)

This dolls' house is very useful for my scrips and scraps.
(Apologies for the scary clown, I bought him years ago because I was going to use the pieces of beautiful vintage fabric that he's made of, but then he looked at me with those evil clown eyes.........)

This (1960's?) Swiss wall plaque was going to be thrown out by the lady working in the back of the charity shop but I saved him!
(It always worries me about what treasures are thrown away and not even put on the shop's shelves for folks like us.....)

My beloved Sylvac bunnies that I've collected since I was a child.

Some Christmas decorations should be left out all year!

A duck on a caravan, what's not to love!?!

I hope you've enjoyed my little snapshots, have a lovely Sunday chucks X

Who Lives In A House Like This?

It's the half term and the sun is at that strange angle as it shines through the windows.
You know the one, where those evil sun beams show up very speck of dust in all its glorious technicolor detail.
I suffered a sudden attack of the Spring Cleaning Fever.
So I thought I should record this auspicious occasion and take a few photos before those cheeky dust bunnies decide to return.
When my Nanna once visited she said,
'Well, at least you won't have to worry about the burglars!'
(I love my Nanna, she's not one to mince her words!)
And she's right, there's nothing in my house that is worth very much, and the vast majority is from the charity shop.
But they are my treasures, I could probably tell you exactly which charity shop they came from and who I was with.
Other treasures are presents from friends, and they are priceless.
This chap is one of my favourite pieces of pottery, he cost 50p from the car boot!
My dollies' mosh pit.
And this is Gol Gol, my childhood companion.
My Mum had to perform plastic surgery on her on many an occasion.
When she had to be washed I used to hold up her legs on the washing line, crying as the water dripped down my arms!
Time for a sit down and a cup of tea while I watch those dust particles float back down!

In My Studio...

This morning I had a little tidy up, so before it gets trashed again I thought I'd record this moment for posterity!
Fancy a little tour?
My studio is teeny tiny, so it won't take long and I've put kettle on!
It's amazing how many nooks and crannies a lass can fit in one room!
My paints have to stay organised at all times though.
Otherwise, if I'm in the 'flow' and I can't grab the colour I want straight away I get really mardy!
The studio parrot, he only needs the occasional dust, very low maintenance!
Handy dolls' house scrips and scraps storage unit!
Oo I can hear the kettle whistling....custard cream or bourbon?

Who Lives In A House Like This?

It's chucking it down.
I have a shed load of paper work to do.
And the dusting.

So I'll take some photos indoors for my blog!
Ha!

I guess my house could be described as 'second hand chic'.
It's basically a charity shop with white walls!

Maybe I have split personality.
I like clutter in some places and blankness in others.

I think our homes tell a lot about us don't you?
How rude!
I haven't even asked if you'd like a cup of tea!
