Plotting-And-A-Planning...

It always takes me a long time to plan and prepare for a workshop.
This week I have been experimenting and painting in preparation for an abstraction weekend workshop that will be held at Hope And Elvis in December.
This little painting is called 'Blue Moon'.
And this one is 'Blood Moon'.
I really enjoyed playing and layering and generally getting messy!
I used to worry about which discipline I should devote myself to: painting or textiles.
I've finally come to the decision that without one I can't do the other!
I think it really helps me to switch, it seems to keep things exciting and I think that they feed off each other.
I suppose I'm just a flibbertigibbet!
(Have I spelt that right?!?)

  1. Why limit yourself? You enjoy both media, and are brilliant at both, so keep doing both, that's my two penn'oth! Love your moody moon paintings. Xxx

  2. Abstract isn't really a type of art I can really get my head round. I can enjoy your two works here, there names are quite self-explanatory. But if you gave a a blank piece of paper or fabric I wouldn't know where to start!
I'd certainly give these wall room💜

    1. Thank you Louise.
Abstract art is a funny old concept, it took me a very long time before I would even allow myself to have a go. It's great fun though as well as being very challenging and frustrating too! X

  3. They're both stunning but I think the blue moon is beautiful in a kind of Australian way in atmosphere with that shadowy figure in the sky. Have a broken leg in hospital so may turn into a bit of a blog stalker instead of interested follower till I get home to keep sane worry not x

And do you know, I hadn't even noticed the shadowy figure.....spooky that! X

  4. I like to switch between ways of getting images out of my head and into the daylight. Making marks in one media and translating them to another seems to get all the loose parts of my soggy-oatmeal brain into action! The best can often be the accidents, I think!

  6. Gorgeous! No don't limit yourself and one feed the other for sure. I adore abstract now-I used to fight it and be a bit uptight about doing it, but as I get older I just think away we go!xx

Would you like to make a comment chuck?
I'd love to hear your thoughts, just a minute and I'll put the kettle on.
Custard cream or bourbon?
