She was only £1.
Okay, she has a bloomin' great crack right around her neck, but a jaunty neckerchief soon put paid to that.
But when the lady told me that she had saved her from the bin this morning because she was deemed un- sellable, it made me wonder...
How many treasures are lost before they even have a chance to make it to the shelves?
Thinking those thoughts sends a shiver down my spine.
I can't even go there...I'm off to put the kettle on.
What a sweetie! Very elegant. We bloggers are a vintage deer loving lot. We must have saved hundreds from landfill sights. I actually rescued one from a crockery shy at my kids summer fair twenty years ago! I bought it before they let the punters loose!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.

So happy you saved her! She's adorable!
ReplyDeleteThanks Patty, she seems very happy in her new home x
DeleteWell, I can answer your question, but you won't like it...
ReplyDeleteLOADS! What gets priced up and put out on the shelves, and what gets put straight in the bin (or the bag for the rag man, in the case of clothes and textiles) is entirely dependent on whoever is doing the sorting. I saved a vintage 1970s duvet cover and a huge 1950s wool blanket from the rag bag this week. In the short time I've been volunteering, I have seen 1950s curtains, vintage silver plated items, and all manner of clothes consigned to scrap, because the sorters deemed them old fashioned and didn't think they would sell. It pains me, it really does!
But hey - we can only do our small part, and there's one Obligatory Blogger Deer saved by your very good self!
Miss Debs is a gorgeous woman, isn't she? That's her fella Kevin in the shot of the pump on my blog. xxx
We need more Guardians of the treasure just like you!
DeleteI don't understand why any donation has to pass the 'taste' test though!
Happy charity hunting this weekend Curtise x
Very cute... I rescue chipped receptacles, with a bit of jiggery you can usually hide the chip and hey presto a pin cushion!... keep up the good work. Eco Ethel xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Ethel, we have many treasures to save! X
