I Love Saltburn-By-The-Sea!

Saltburn-By-The-Sea is such a quirky, artsy place.
It's only small but it's full of character.
And one of my favourite shops there is Northern Lights Interiors...
This little chap wasn't for sale but helps out at the till!
There are so many beautiful and unusual things for sale and it's always curated in a witty and stylish way.
I was sorely tempted by this Minnie Mouse lunch box!
Look at the Noddy light stand!
There was a really funky 'Alice In Wonderland' display outside the library too...
Mini Goth is 'Alice' mad.
Apologies!
The scenery is also stunning, and there's the best little fish and chip shop by the beach...
In fact, I think all this Yorkshire air is even having an effect on Middie!
Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone!

Tiny Painting...

Here's a tiny painting I've just finished.
I'm very excited to have been invited to exhibit in a group summer show at The Ropewalk in Barton.
The jackdaw seems to be looking forward to the sunny days ahead!

Whitby Skies...

I'm working on some new pieces at the moment in preparation for my Mrs B Workshop Weekender at Hope and Elvis in December.
(Eep!)
I would like to show you them soon, if you fancy, but at the moment it's studio chaos in the Bertimus residence!
However, I thought you might enjoy some of the photos I took in the Easter holiday...

I took these from the car window when we were in a layby on the way home!

The Perfect Afternoon...

Term time is a little fraught right now....
Deadlines
&
Drama
I do love this about teaching Fine Art, but I thought I would just scroll through a few photos from the Easter holidays with a nice cup of tea.
Care to join me?
Mini Goth and I spent the perfect afternoon on a rather chilly day holed up in W.Hamond's tea room.
Sketchbooks at the ready with a big slice of cake.
Gazing out of the window, just watching the world go by...
I loved sketching the folk that stopped to peer into the jeweller's window across the way.
And we were even given a sweetie when we finally left to face the world again!

Necessity Is The Mother Of All Invention...

A couple of weeks ago, the hubby and I had a couple of hours to kill while Mini Goth was at a pizza-party.
We decided to go to Frankie and Bennys' as a bit of a treat.
As we sat at the bar to wait for a table I suddenly realised that I didn't have my trusty sketchbook or any stitching in my bag.
Now, I'm not good at just sitting down without something to do, and I started to panic a little.
(I know this sounds incredibly anti- social but the hubby is very used to this!)
All I could find was a biro and a few dog-eared Post- Its at the bottom of my bag.
What I really enjoyed about this was that as I moved table I could start another sketch and just join it all together.
The angles and viewpoints really don't make any sense at all but it was really good fun!
In fact, it's given me an idea for my poor, long suffering students next year!

Happy Day!

On Saturday I taught a mono printing workshop at The Steel Rooms in their lovely bright and sunny studio space.
Everyone really got stuck in, and it was a hive of activity.
And soon lots of beautiful prints began to emerge...
In fact, we managed to cover the floor with all the beautiful art work!
What a group of talented ladies!
It makes me feel so happy seeing everyone's work all together.
And not only extremely creative, but stylish too!
Thanks Julie and Emma at The Steel Rooms for your warm welcome and kindness, and to everyone who came along X
