I love preparing for Mrs B's workshops, getting all the bits and bobs ready, prepping the demo pieces, baking cakes with me mum (okay, I do very little in the baking department but I'm a mean machine with the clearing up!)
We will be working on three abstract paintings on the Sunday of the Mrs B's 'Adventures In Abstraction' Weekender at Hope and Elvis in December.
Abstraction can be a scary thing, I know that I daren't venture into those waters until I was well into my thirties.
I didn't feel 'clever' enough.
I didn't have a gold badge that said 'I am an abstract artist'.
I couldn't speak the arty farty lingo.
In the end I just got fed up and started to play with paint.
And I loved it!
On the day we shall all be working on the paintings together.
And it won't be scary, because painting is fun.
And fun is very, very important.
(I might just wear a gold badge that says that!)

ReplyDeleteEep! Can't wait! Xxx
DeletePlaying with paint is a lovely way to call it x
ReplyDeleteIt really helps me if I'm feeling blocked, 'playing' sounds less daunting than 'painting'! Xxx
DeleteThat'a great way to get them to relax and just have a go saying that... picture of you wearing your badge please.
ReplyDeleteHa! Ha! I'll see what I can do!
DeleteIt's like when I learned to drive, my teacher wouldn't call roundabouts 'roundabouts' but 'circular junctions' and it really helped!!!! X
