That Was The Year That Was...

2013...hmmm...an interesting one.
I must admit that no tears will be shed when Big Ben bongs his final bong of the year, but I have learnt many things about myself and for that I will be grateful.

Any how, in true cheesy style I thought I'd have a recap of all the highlights.
So, 2013, before you're evicted from the Big Brother House, here are your best bits...

'The Only Constant' exhibition. Gate Gallery.
Really hard work, heavy snow on the private view, loved every minute.

Loved teaching some workshops at The Steel Rooms.
Looking forward to next year's!

Watching Middie's shinanigans...her she is hiding in Lottie's onesie!

And who's that pretending not to be where she's not allowed to be!

Enjoying a fabulous Easter break at Whitby.

The summer...what a summer it was!

Having the best time in Cornwall!
Is that a seagull on my awning?
(That is my fave photo of the year!)

Meeting the wonderful Viv from Hen's Teeth, Julie Arkell (I am not worthy!) and Jessie Chorley (wowee!) at my spiritual home, Hope and Elvis.

Watching my beautiful, creative and inspiring daughter grow up and become more and more of an individual in her own right...

Well, that's my whistle stop tour of 2013, hope I haven't bored you to death!

Wishing you all a very Happy, Peaceful New Year, full of joy and good things!

Today I Shall Mostly Be...

Today I shall mostly be working on a pink zebra with a crow on its back.
What will you mostly be doing during these quiet days after the festivities?
Hope you have fun, whatever it is!

Festive Treasures!

This year I've had to have a sort out and an organise of my vintage bauble obsession...er...collection!

Middie helped...aaaargh!
One of the best finds this year was when me and me mate Sam went-a-charity shopping.
I spied Sam doing the happy dance as she held aloft a bag of pine cone pixies!
I couldn't believe it when she said:
'Share the love!'
she gave me two and kept two for herself.
The photo above is of my two, (needless to day, they aren't only on show for Christmas!)
And here's Sam's:
Now I always had the sneaking suspicion that Sam's pair were a tad mischievous, but I couldn't believe it when she sent me these photos.
You see Sam had just bought a lovely Christmas spinny thing that goes around when you put in a little candle:

And when she turned around they had blown it out!
Hmmmmm...I think I was lucky with my little pair of pixies as there's no shinanigans to report of...yet!

My Mum, Sam and myself have been on the bauble prowl and have had quite a lot of success...thanks for sharing you two!
Here's my Mum's best find:
A toxic angel that glows in the dark!
My Nanna remembers having some on her tree and it really does glow a nuclear green in the dark!
Love it!
Hope you all had fun hunting for Christmas treasures too!

Shhhhh! Secret Santa Time!

Last day of term today, two Secret Santas to go to and Christmas dinner to boot!
Woo! Hoo!
Look at the beautiful cardboard tree made by the Foundation art students!
Micheal and Naif become Santa's little helpers...
Nice specs Hannah!
Ooooo What is it Debs?
A hand made poodle of course!
A Christmas pixie, looking all excited...
Oh! No! You can't buy pixies rudey pressies!
(Hope Santa's not watching!)
Squeeeeeeeal!

A Christmas- related accident no less!
(Health (or should I say 'elf') and safety note to self: do not chase Santa's sleigh down the street and then trip over the dog!)
Poor Martin!
Pressies galore!
And just look what I got :

A hand made piglet called Twiglet by my very talented friend Ginny!
Thank you Ginny!
And then it was time for the Art Department staff's Secret Santa...
Did I get a rather lovely vintage tin?
Oh no, something even better than that...
A beautiful textile picture in a tin!
It is even more special because it was made with scraps of faded quilt from the Hen's Teeth workshop we went to at the wonderous Hope and Elvis.
Thank you so much Sam for this beautiful gift and for the Cath Kidston fripperies too!
And do you know what?
Even the sprouts were done to perfection!
Merry Christmas everybody!

Ta! Daa!

Forgot to show you me new wig!
I never, ever thought that I would be a blonde!
I did try on a wig that was exactly like my hair, which was quite spooky, but I didn't feel like I was getting value for money!
And who knows, this might be the only time in my life that I can have whatever hair I like!
Hope you like!

Preparations...

I love this time of year.
Time to think about the New Year, future plans and future projects.
Next year's workshop at Hope and Elvis is going to be one of my highlights of 2014.
And so I am a pootling and a plotting.
This little chap emerged last week and I just have to attach old curtain rings or lace so that it can be hung on the wall.
Are you all dreaming and preparing for the year ahead?
